Alternative to the heat treatment of case hardened steels saves time and resources

Cold forging is a proven process for the production of rotationally symmetrical components for the automotive industry. To achieve good formability, case-hardened steels are isothermally annealed or spheroidizing annealed. In addition, post-treatments are time-consuming in order to assure the straightness and surface quality requirements. These processes are important prerequisites for the further processing of case-hardened precision parts. Together with the cold forming industry Deutsche Edelstahlwerke has developed an alternative to the classic heat treatment processes. The result: leaner process chains and improved material properties.
